Effects of Growth Conditions on Phenolic Composition and Antioxidant Activity in the Medicinal Plant Ageratina petiolaris (Asteraceae)

Secondary metabolites, in addition to playing an essential role the adaptation of plants environment and phytochemical responses recovery processes stress conditions, are base material healing effect medicinal plants. In this study, growth conditions localities origin Ageratina petiolaris on phenolic compounds content antioxidant activity was evaluated; plant is used for purposes Oaxaca, Mexico. Samples stem young leaves were collected from growing naturally (in situ) two locations Oaxaca propagules situ; grown ex situ obtain a set equivalent samples first sampling situ). both sets samples, total polyphenol flavonoid contents evaluated by spectrometry, later acids flavonoids also identified quantified high-performance liquid chromatography with diode-array detection (HPLC-DAD). The A. significantly influenced its composition activity, where had higher than did situ. Five five identified, eight which not been reported petiolaris: caffeic acid, ?-coumaric robinin, rutin, luteolin-7-glucoside, apigenin-7-glucoside, rosmarinic acid kaempferol, terms HPLC-DAD analysis.
